Adjusting for Your Zone

Our monthly guides provide general timing based on average conditions. However, your specific USDA hardiness zone significantly affects when to plant and harvest. Use these adjustments:

Zones 3-5 (Cold)

Start 2-4 weeks later than guide dates in spring. End 2-4 weeks earlier in fall. Shorter growing season means choosing fast-maturing varieties.

Zones 6-8 (Moderate)

Follow guide dates closely. Most timing in our guides is calibrated for these zones. Watch local weather forecasts for variations.

Zones 9-11 (Warm)

Start 2-4 weeks earlier in spring. Grow cool-season crops in winter instead of summer. Manage heat stress in summer months.
